Here’s a little article by Donna Svei over at AvidCareerist about a simple mistake that a lot of people make when they email recruiters and potential employers. It’s so short that I won’t take too much time to expound upon it, except to lay out its two core takeaways:
- Use a signature block on all of your professional emails – a little block of contact information that goes along with your name on your sign-off. This not only makes it easier for recruiters to contact you, it also shows them that you’re taking the job search seriously. Do you have to use the exact format that Donna suggests? No, but it is all good information to include.
- If you want people to read your stuff, why not throw a picture of some monkeys in there? C’mon! Everyone loves monkeys!
Okay, I’m joking with #2, but I’m dead serious when I say to read Donna Svei’s article and be sure to include an email signature in all your professional correspondences.
