Think we’re the only blog out there brave enough to talk about the cover letter’s faults? Well, THINK AGAIN! Our BFFs over at the Undercover Recruiter (or soon-to-be BFFs; they haven’t responded to our friend request) also have a few things to say about the cover letter and how dead it is.
When you put aside statements like, “We live in a social media world where 140 characters is the max attention our brain can offer,” and focus on the post as a whole, it actually makes a good point – and by “good point,” I mean, “our whole point for creating 2:25am.”
Here’s the jist: writing a good cover letter is fine, but it won’t help you nearly as much as a connection will. Because, like we talked about in the last post, potential employers don’t know how much to trust a cover letter. But they DO know how much to trust a current employee.
Anyway, take a look at the Undercover Recruiter’s post and let us know what you think about cover letters in the comments!
